Monday, October 1 | 7:00 – 8:30pm
The New Am Room of the New Amsterdam Theatre, 214 W 42 Street

SDCF and SDC, along with the Broadway Green Alliance, invite you to join us for a discussion on Directing GreenPanelists will include Allen Hershkowitz, Senior Scientist for Natural Resource Defense Council, designers James Bedell, Andrea Lauer, and Donyale Werle, stage manager Marjorie Horne and Showman Fabricators owner Bob Usdin.

The evening’s program is put together and moderated by Director/Choreographer John Carrafa, SDC’s representative to the Broadway Green Alliance.

As our culture shifts toward increased environmental awareness, many high-profile organizations – Broadway productions, the NBA and Major League Baseball – are rapidly adopting green practices.  In this meeting, we’ll discuss the steps to making pre-production, rehearsal and tech more environmentally kind, and we’ll learn about the resources currently available to do so.  Together, we’ll explore specific ways in which directors and collaborating artists can encourage better environmental practices, and, jointly, we’ll compile a list of basic recommendations to be implemented in the production process.  This will be a town-hall type process with plenty of time for input and questions from attendees.

The discussion is free and open to all and will be audio-recorded for future podcast through the SDCF’s Masters of the Stage on AmericanTheatreWing.org.  To attend, please RSVP to Foundation@SDCweb.org to reserve a spot.  Enter through the main lobby of the New Amsterdam Theatre to be directed to the New Am Room.
