John Rando

John Rando was most recently represented on Broadway with the Tony Nominated Best Musical: A Christmas Story.  He is the 2002 Tony Award and Outer Critic’s Circle Award-winning director of Urinetown, The Musical. Other Broadway credits include: The Wedding Singer, A Thousand Clowns, Dance Of The Vampires and Neil Simon’s The Dinner Party.  With City Center Encores! he has directed several acclaimed productions: It’s A Bird It’s A Plane It’s Superman, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, On The Town, Damn Yankees, Face The Music, Of Thee I sing, The Pajama Game, Do Re Mi, and Strike Up The Band. His Off Broadway credits include the 2013 revival of David Ives’s All In The Timing which garnered him an Obie Award. Other Off Broadway credits include  Mere Mortals at Primary Stages, The Toxic Avenger at New World Stages, Pig Farm at the Roundabout Theatre Company; Bright Ideas at Manhattan Class Company; Polish Joke at Manhattan Theatre Club; The Comedy Of Errors at the Acting Company; and The Venetian Twins at The Pearl Theatre. His numerous credits in the regional theatre include: Round And Round The Garden at American Conservatory Theater, The Man Who Came To Dinner at The Alley Theater, The Underpants at The Geffen, The Taming Of The Shrew at The Old Globe Theater, A Flea In Her Ear at Williamstown, The Guardsman at Berkshire Theater Festival, plus On The Town and Guys And Dolls at Barrington Stage Company among many others. In 1992 Rando was a Drama League Directing Fellow.  His professional accomplishments were recognized by the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television with the 2010 Alumni Achievement Award and The University of Texas with the 2004 Outstanding Young Texas Ex Award.
