Open to the public, this series of conversations with theatre’s prominent artists offers rare insight into the creative process and personal experience of forging an artistic career.

Symposia

SDCF produces annual symposia open to all levels of artists to offer personal information on craft and career, provide access to prominent working members of the theatre industry, and build community among directors and choreographers who, most often, work in isolation from their peers.  Selection is by application.

Industry Panels and Roundtable Events

SDCF hosts a variety of Industry Panels and Roundtable events focused on topics of interest for directors and choreographers. Recent topics include Creative Career Coaching, Working with Casting Directors, and Self Producing. 

IN NEW YORK, NY

Director/Choreographer Networking (DCN)

Produced in association with SDC, DCN’s are held one Monday of each month at the offices of SDC and focus on exploring topics of interest to directors and choreographers with invited distinguished guests.  Attendance is free and open to the public. The discussions are audio recorded for future podcasts.

A group of hand-picked artists who seem poised for consideration for artistic leadership positions are invited to join conversations with industry search firms and experts to help prepare for the rigors of the search process and the demands of the job. Additional information to come.
