Applicants do not need to be Members of SDC for this Fellowship. Any applicant currently enrolled in a collegiate level institution must have completed their program by the start date of any opportunity they are applying for.

ABOUT FABIAN ALOISE

Fabian is a director and choreographer. His work has been critically acclaimed, receiving the 2026 Olivier and WhatsOnStage Awards for Best Theatre Choreographer for his work on Evita. He is three-time Olivier Award nominated and five-time WhatsOnStage nominated, as well as being nominated for Best Creative West End Debut and winning an Off West End Award “OFFIE”. He was recently listed as one of The Stage 100- a definitive list of theatre’s most influential artists of 2024 and 2026.

Fabians work can next be seen this year as movement director on END OF THE RAINBOW starring Jinx Monsoon, as choreographer on DEATH NOTE at the Barbican and as choreographer on WHISPERING JACK for Sydney Theatre Company.  

Originally born in Canada to proud immigrant parents, Fabian moved to Melbourne, Australia at an early age to train in classical ballet and contemporary dance at The Victorian College of the Arts on a full scholarship. Fabian’s career spans Australia, Europe, the United States, Asia and London’s West End.

Most recently Fabian directed and choreographed A VERY MUSICAL CHRISTMAS for the Michael Cassel Group (ABC Australia). Before this he choreographed WE WILL ROCK YOU (Stuttgart, Stage Entertainment) Dir. Ben Elton, EVITA (London Palladium) for the Jamie Lloyd Company (for which he is currently nominated for an Olivier Award.) Movement director on MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and THE TEMPEST (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) for the Jamie Lloyd Company. He choreographed SUNSET BLVD (St James Theatre, New York & Savoy Theatre) for the Jamie Lloyd Company, dir. Jamie Lloyd (nom. Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer, WhatsOnStage Award for Best Choreography, Tony Award Winner for Best Musical Revival). Co-director and Choreographer for KATHY AND STELLA SOLVE A MURDER (Ambassadors Theatre) for Francesca Moody Productions (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022/ 23, Bristol Old Vic, Manchester HOME), IN DREAMS (Leeds Playhouse), dir. Luke Sheppard. THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL (Southbank Centre & UK Tour), dir. Tara Overfield Wilkinson. CABARET by Kander and Ebb at the LIDO 2 in Paris, dir. Robert Carsen. One of Fabian’s career highlights was working alongside theatre legend Ann Reinking as associate choreographer on FOSSE (USA and international tours) and he continues to be inspired by the Verdon Fosse Legacy
