Shadowing – Little Shop of Horrors with Maggie Burrows at the MUNY

This opportunity lets you shadow Director Maggie Burrows during the rehearsal process of Little Shop of Horrors at the MUNY in St. Louis in July 2023

Additional information: This Shadow opportunity is ideal for an early career director specifically interested in learning more about the intricacies of staging a full musical in an abbreviated/stock rehearsal period. The shadow will observe every step of the rehearsal process from first read to first performance in the two-week period. Housing will be provided for this opportunity.

Shadowing – Here Lies Love with Choreographer Annie-B Parson and Associate Choreographer Elizabeth DeMent on Broadway

This opportunity lets you shadow Choreographer Annie-B Parson and Associate Choreographer Elizabeth DeMent during the first weeks of the rehearsal process of Here Lies Love, on Broadway in New York City in May 2023

Observership – The Mountaintop with Patricia McGregor at Geffen Playhouse

This opportunity lets you observe Director Patricia McGregor on the production The Mountaintop by Katori Hall at Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA in May 2023

Observership – Richard III with Stephen Burdman at New York Classical Theatre

This opportunity allows someone to observe Director Stephen Burdman on an all-female production of Richard III with New York Classical Theatre that will take place in Central Park in New York City starting May 2023

Rehearsal & Performance location: Central Park, New York City (West 103 x Central Park West)

Dates: May 15, 2023 (first rehearsal) –  June 20, 2023 (opening night)

Stipend: $3,000

Additional information: This observership is an ideal opportunity for a proactive early career director who is interested in learning about directing a classic production or interest in directing immersive theatrical productions. This production is an all-female production, and the lead role of Richard will be played by a disabled actor. This production will be in a public venue of Central Park so an applicant would need to be comfortable working outdoors for the duration of the production process. An applicant who also has an interest in learning about running their own company as an artist producing the work they are directing would also be well suited for this opportunity.

This opportunity lets you to be a Fellow to Choreographer and Director Sam Pinkleton on The Wizard of Oz at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, CA starting April 2023

This opportunity allows someone to be a Fellow to Director Amanda Dehnert for her production of Love’s Labor’s Lost at Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in Garrison, NY starting June 2023
